The Launch recap: season 2, episode 1.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

The song of episode one was Better, and was produced by Ryan Tedder, of One Republic, and the amazing mentors of the episode were Scott Borchetta, Marie-Mai, and Ryan Tedder.

The Launch - episode 1

What a literal star.

The first artist that performed in front of the mentors was Cassiøpeia, a 17 year old singer from Burnaby, British Colombia. She sang Walk The Line by Johnny Cash, and Wake Up, an original song written by herself. The mentors appreciated her music taste and obviously, her hair (because c'mon her hair is awesome!!).

Amber J? More like Amber slay.

The second artist to perform in front of the mentors was Amber J, a 25 year old from Trail, British Colombia. She sang Body by Loud Luxury. The mentors told her to try singing the song again without her guitar, because they said she was too focused on the guitar notes. Amber J has a very great voice though, that's certain.

Start a day off right, with listening to Dey!

Third, was a reggae/pop artist from Toronto, Ontario, by the name of Dey. She wowed the mentors with a cover of On & On by Erykah Badu, and sang an original song; Flying Lo. Her audition will definitely put a smile on your face.

Lovable Noa.

Noa, a singer from Richmond Hill, Ontario, was fourth to perform in front of the mentors. Just from her entrance, you can see she's a bubbly and fun human being. She sang Hands To Myself by Selena Gomez, and smiled all the way through.

A queen named Vi.

Lastly, Vi, from Ottawa, Ontario, sings Mad World by Gary Jules, and her original song called Reaping. She performed with style and passion, and has amazing vocals.

The two artists chosen to record their version of Better were Cassiøpeia and Vi! They both went in the studio with the mentors and made the song their own.

Then, after both versions of the song were recorded, it was time for Cassiøpeia and Vi to perform the song on stage, in front of the mentors and an audience, after getting performance advice from Marie-Mai. They both did an incredible performance and definitely gave the mentors a hard choice to pick which one of the songs would be launched.

In the end, the mentors decided that Cassiøpeia would be launched and she was so grateful, and amazed that THE Ryan Tedder produced HER song. Vi was grateful too, that she got that far and for the opportunity, of course.
