After the worthwhile process of writing lyrics and making beats, The Royal Foundry, made up of Bethany and Jared Salte, is back with yet another catchy song.
“Hopefully” is the follow up single, after their last release. Following “Don’t Know”, both of the songs have high punches of explosive energy that will keep you dancing.
The duo expresses how the world is always behind digital screens, and the way to work around that is to emphasize with eachother.
I got the chance to chat with the band on their newest single, here:
1. What first inspired the song ‘Hopefully’? Why do you think the world needs it at this moment?
---> This song was a frustrating and long creation. We have had the idea for awhile, but it just didn’t sit right with us and so we kept putting it on the back burner. Looking back, we tried many different lyrical ideas, but became frustrated with how they were sitting, so we scrapped many alternatives. We didn’t know if we would ever finish it as it had been low on our priority list of songs. However, one day the lyrics just came to us. The melody reemerged in our mind and we wrote the song in less that 20 min. The words written were very applicable to us in that moment, as if the song was waiting for a specific time to be finalized. In that moment, we were fighting this frustration with social media and the dark side of the internet and the desire to change to be better, to do better. I think everyone needs to take a moment to reflect on their behaviours, to be kind to themselves, and to be kind to others.
2. ‘Hopefully’ still has the danceable punches of beats in the chorus, like in your previous single ‘Don’t Know’, was that intentional?
---> Maybe unconsciously so? Haha, I think having a driving beat in all our music will be present because that’s what we gravitate to naturally? Plus, I mean, it’s so fun to play live!
3. With the release being a few weeks ago, are you please with how people are reacting to it?
---> You know, every time we release a single, we are just so blown away by the amazing support of our friends and family. It’s been even more amazing this time, since its been such a gap since we released our last single. So we are very excited for it!
4. What messages were you meaning to make listeners hear with the single?
---> I think the biggest takeaway would be to be kind to yourself and others! The world can be a pretty cruel place, but fighting fire with fire will only make it worse. Kill ‘em with kindness, right?!
