Chat with World Machine on their newest single.

Updated: Nov 12, 2019

World Machine

Made up of Jack Shea and Naz Kalsey, World Machine is an indie/R&B band from London, England. With just over 700 followers on Instagram, and over 2000 likes on Facebook, they're certainly a band to look out for!

To start 2019 off right, World Machine released a brand new single on March 29th, along with a music video, which was posted later in April. They explain that "The Blame Is Only Me as a track, explores the bands more Alternative RnB sound with The Weeknd styled falsetto, with echoes of The 1975 and Khalid."

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jack from World Machine, check it out here:

What inspired the song?

---> The song was inspired by a number of different things at the time. The lack of blame put upon yourself for things you could of achieved or said during your life. Instead of blaming others maybe self reflect or look upon yourself as a reason. I felt culture as a whole lacked this, and wanted to write a song that empowers self reflection in a critical but positive way. Saying this, when I hit 25 last year, I had this moment of looking back on my life with some regrets as to what I could of done better and saw that potentially I could of worked harder and maybe my life would be more comfortable, it was all quite scary to think it had been 5 years of my life that had passed since I was 20 years old.

This is your first release of 2019, if there's any, what changes have you made to your sound comparing to songs you've released last year?

---> We always go into songwriting with no fixed idea on how the sound will be. From the first single Affection that was very Indie Pop to the EP (EAN01) that explored more RNB and Electronica, there is never a specific style that we can relate to. From Blame to our potential next release We Will (Dance The Blues Away) there is such as contrast I don’t even know what genre we are anymore.

How would you describe your sound at this moment?

---> We get described often as Electro Pop but we love the term “GuitaRnB” haha.

Any last messages to fans and people who seem interested in your music?

---> Thank you so much for listening and following the journey. We Love You.
